Dr. Viralkumar Patel is a board certified General Surgeon and a fellowship-trained Hand Surgeon practicing in Atlanta. Dr. Patel has dedicated his practice to the diagnosis and treatment of hand and upper extremity conditions in all age groups.

Dr. Patel completed his undergraduate education with honors, at the University of Florida. Dr. Patel earned his medical degree at Meharry Medical College, where he graduated with high honors and was inaugurated as a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society for his superior scholastic achievements. Dr. Patel completed his residency in General Surgery at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System. Dr. Patel was selected from among his colleagues as Resident of the Year, for his remarkable care and compassion toward patients.

Following residency training, Dr. Patel pursued a Hand Surgery fellowship at the University of Connecticut. There, under the direction of Dr. Kirk Watson, founder and former president of the New England Hand Society, Dr. Patel gained immense experience in hand and microsurgery. During his fellowship, Dr. Patel presented his research at several local and national meetings, including the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and the New England Hand Society. Furthermore, Dr. Patel has been acknowledged in the Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and he has committed himself to many professional organizations.

Dr. Patel spends time educating his patients about their medical condition. In Dr. Patel’s own words, “Listening to each patient’s concerns and helping them return faster to a pain free and normal, productive lifestyle is what I strive to achieve everyday.”
